Elton John tickets go on sale

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) _ The craze to get Elton John tickets in Anchorage is under way.

When tickets went on sale in Fairbanks, the show nearly sold out in just 3 1/2 hours.

Now, it's Anchorage's turn. The Sullivan Arena is gearing up for a similar rush.

Tickets were to go on sale Monday morning at 10 a.m.

About 200 people were lined up _ some taking it easy in lawn chairs _ waiting for the ticket window to open.

Patrick Vick secured the top spot. He said he should be home packing for a trip to Disneyland, but decided instead to spend the night outside the Sullivan Arena.

Joe Wooden with SMG, the company that manages the Sullivan Arena, said he expects this to be the biggest and quickest selling event in the arena's history, even beating out the Neil Diamond concert back in 1999.
